For families
- Interview each caregiver carefully, preferably more than once.
- Verify identity, references, work history, relevant credentials, and driving information when applicable.
- Consider lawful background checks appropriate to the position.
- Discuss duties, schedule, compensation, overtime, breaks, time off, privacy, transportation, guests, cameras, emergency procedures, and household rules in writing.
- Follow federal, state, and local domestic-worker, wage, tax, payroll, insurance, and work-authorization requirements.
- Do not share financial credentials, passwords, or unnecessary sensitive information.
- Contact emergency services when immediate safety is at risk.
For caregivers
- Verify the family’s identity, address, job details, schedule, duties, and compensation before accepting work.
- Arrange a safe first interview and tell a trusted person where you are going.
- Never pay money to receive a job, deposit a stranger’s check, buy gift cards, or transfer funds for a family.
- Request written expectations and keep copies of important communications and agreements.
- Do not accept unsafe, illegal, exploitative, discriminatory, or materially different work.
- Protect private family information and property.
- Leave and contact emergency services if you are threatened or in immediate danger.

HireACare keeps private contact information hidden until a family requests contact and the caregiver accepts. Acceptance only authorizes the introduction; it is not a HireACare endorsement, guarantee, employment offer, or completion of screening.

Report suspicious profiles, fraud, harassment, threats, exploitation, requests for illegal work, or misuse of private information to support@hireacare.com. HireACare cannot replace police, emergency services, child-protection agencies, adult-protection agencies, labor departments, or other authorities.
